MY surfboard is on its way - is there anything important to know about the delivery?

We are fully aware that when the delivery service comes and brings a new surfboard, the joy is great and the carrier is usually in a hurry. Nevertheless, it is of absolute importance that you check the package for external damage while the carrier is still on site.

This is the best way to ensure that the package is not damaged during shipping.

We do our best in advance to keep your delivery the safest way possible. Nevertheless, we can not avoid that a package might be handled badly by the delivery service.
If contrary to expectations, your package should show any external damage or traces, please do not accept the package without reservations.
  • If your package has only slight damage... Please accept the delivery only "with reservations" and tell the delivery person explicitly.
  • If your package has more serious damage... Then please open the package while the courier is still on site and check your new board for damage. Even if parcel services are always in a hurry, it is their duty in such cases to wait until you can check the goods.
  • If your board is seriously damaged... Then please make sure to not accept the package and contact us immediately afterward. We promise to offer you the fastest solution possible and to supply a new board in no time.

To find a satisfactory solution in these situations, please contact us preferably via email at aloha@kanoa-surfboards.com. Send us some photos of the damage and keep all of the packaging in case of sending it back to us. We will figure out how to deal with each case individually and find the best possible solution.

Can I track my package?

We understand that you are pretty stoked and can't wait to hold your new stuff in your hand. Therefore, of course, you can track your package. You will receive a shipping notification from us once your order is fulfilled and the tracking information will be provided by our delivery partners such as DHL, UPS, or La Poste (FR) as well. If you did not receive any tracking information just contact us via mail at aloha@kanoa-surfboards.com or use our live chat as well. We can manually send you your tracking information.

HOW LONG DO I WAIT FOR MY NEW STUFF?

We always try to be as fast as possible. Depending on the season it can take a bit longer due to a high volume of orders. Inside Europe, we can ship within 2-7 working days depending on your location. In Germany, it usually just takes 1-4 days after the day of your order. To find out more about specific time frames for your country, check out our Shipping Policy.

If you cannot find your country in the list, you can also write an email at aloha@kanoa-surfboards.com and we can figure out a way to get our cool products on their way to you.

TECH TALK

What is new about the Foamy X Collection?

Like changing tides our board construction changes as well and gets more innovative. Our new Foamy X comes with an x-changeable fin box, making it possible to choose the fin system you like most or experiment with various options. FCS I, FCSII, or FUTURES Fins - everything is possible. It has also increased durability due to thicker rail tape and tough vinyl skin. We also updated the design and kept it more clean. This way you progress smoothly and stylishly.

WHAT does HRT Stand for?

HRT stands for Honey. Roots. Tech - which is a worldwide innovation in composite construction. We are using it for a completely different range of surfboards. They are going to redefine standards regarding flex, durability, and performance. Due to their 3D structural Honeycomb Glassing these boards provide increased pressure resistance and absorb vibrations as well as chatter much better. However, we are not just working on making strong surfboards - we are also taking a big step towards a sustainable world of surfing. HRT enables us to upcycle, recycle, or renewable materials. Currently, we are experimenting with a Polyola Eco Blank and combinations of flax, viscose, jute, and coconut. So stay tuned for more updates and pre-order your board soon.

Where are your surfboards coming from?

All of our PU Hardboards are coming from a shaping legend in South Africa. Spider Murphy has more than 45 years of experience and builds every board with a high amount of perfection. Since he has been surfing for almost all his life, he knows every important aspect from the feeling of waves and boards to shaping high-performance equipment. We are stoked, that Spider will be shaping our new river boards as well.

Our Foamy Surfboards are coming from a family-run business in Peru. They are constantly working on decreasing waste during production and using fewer toxins in the materials and glue, which is why our boards feature eco-construction. If you are interested in our PolyOla Surfboard Collection then you'll be getting a board that is sourced and produced along the European Coastline. All the single pieces and materials are then brought together at the Surf Factory in Portugal.

Last but not least, our upcoming HRT Collection will be manufactured in France at our HQ in the Basque Country. Our team is currently testing and working on the prototypes - so stay tuned for more information.

I never heard of Polyola - what is that?

Polyola is one step closer to sustainable and eco-friendly surfboard construction. Every PU foam blank starts with the same mixture: a polyol and an isocyanate. What makes Polyola eco foam different is that their two liquids are sourced through recycled materials. The polyol is based on more than 80% recycling polyol coming from packaging out of industry and post. And, 60% of the used isocyanate is made from recycled material. So in total, the Polyola eco foam is based on a sum of 30% recycled PU content and wood components. These boards are made to shred and to be shredded - at the end of their lifetime, the eco blanks are fully recyclable as well. The founder team is therefore working on collection points where old or broken boards can be dropped off and find their way back into the cycle.

Do you make costum shapes?

Right now we are not offering costum surfboards. However, we are constantly testing out new prototypes with different volume distributions, rail designs, and shapes to provide boards that meet the needs and wishes of surfers as much as possible. But still, if you are interested in costum boards, just drop us a message and we will find a good solution ;)

SURF TALK

I just started surfing in the ocean - what's a good surfboard for beginners?

First of all, we are stoked to hear that you found a new passion for surfing. Now that you are looking for your board we can recommend the Foamy Fun X. This board is built for a high wave count and big smiles. Especially when starting to surf it's most important to catch as many waves as possible. That's how you can progress. Our foamy will help you with that. It's safe and durable - the perfect companion throughout your surfing journey.

If you are interested in your first hardboard, you should have a look at the Rollercoaster. This true Mini Malibu guarantees fun sessions for beginners to advanced surfers. The shape makes it super stable with a wide nose and supports you to paddle fast and catch every little bit of swell.

Both boards, the Foamy Fun X and the Rollercoaster, will rocket-launch your first maneuvers. But they will always be a good option for intermediate and advanced surfers when the waves are small and you just want to have fun. For more information, check out our detailed guide and find the perfect surfboard for beginners.

Riversurfing is my new jam - what's a good board for the beginning?

No matter if found in nature or artificial static waves, every river wave has its very own character. Steep, flat, high or low, and with a low or high power or water pressure. Therefore we recommend the boards depending on which kind of wave you are surfing mostly.

However, our Foamy Flow X is in general a good choice for beginners. It offers high durability and great speed. This way it saves you from time-consuming repairs and lets you progress smoothly and fast.

If you are looking a bit more for a challenge, we can recommend the Creek 3.0. It is perfect for all surf levels and you can use it for stronger waves like Eisbach (Munich), Fuchslochwelle (Nuremberg), or artificial wave pools (e.g. City Wave or Unit Park Tech). Due to its ImpacTec, this board will withstand the concrete reefs and walls of river waves giving you more time in the water than the repair shop.

For heavier riders and weaker waves, we can recommend the Moby Creek 3.0. This board allows you to shorter transitions when there is less space. The same option exists as a Softtop. Our Foamy Float X offers speed, control, and quick turns. It is also a good choice for heavier riders (70-110kg). The extra-wide outline supports you to stay in the wave easily and avoid nose dives. As you progress we offer high-performance shapes as well.

Have a look at our River Board guide and find the perfect riverboard for your riding level.

I want to change from an ocean softboard to a hardboard. Any tips here?

As you are moving forward on your surfing journey, we understand, that you want to change to a hardboard at some point. A good fit would be the Rollercoaster. A true Mini Malibu surfboard with a stable shape to support you while catching waves and paddling fast. This board will make the transition from foamy to hardboard really smooth and easy. You will keep up a high wave count to practice your maneuvers and turns with an even more agile board.

If you are looking for a bit more of a challenge the Icebreaker is your way to go. Smaller sizes and a pointier nose make this board the perfect choice for ambitious up & comers. It offers still a good amount of volume though, so you don't have to worry about its stability in the water.

Our Eggplant should be mentioned here as well - with its wider outline and perfect volume distribution for land-locked surfers, it offers stability, drive, and a good amount of challenge. Those three boards are perfect hardboards for beginners and support your progress. The Mini Malibu will be the "easiest" transition from Soft to Hardboard, whereas the Icebreaker and the Eggplant are the right choices for even more ambitious beginners. If you are looking for more detailed information we also summarized and categorized all our ocean boards in a guide. Have a look and find your perfect fit.

Where can I test your boards?

Testing a surfboard before buying it is an important aspect. If you are looking for a river board you have the chance to test quite a lot of them at our wave partners. We made a list of all our partners so you can have a look at which one you'd like to visit. There you can ask for KANOA Testboards and give 'em a ride.

We are also planning River Test Tours or other kinds of Pop-Up Events where you will be able to test the quiver. Sign up for our Newsletter to be the first to know about events like this. We are also working on possibilities regarding the testing of our ocean surfboards. So stay tuned.

And remember, whenever you feel unsure about buying a board and if it's the right fit, just write us a message via Live Chat or Email and we will support you with our experience and knowledge.

How do i choose the rIGHT SURFBOARD FOR ME?

Choosing a surfboard can make one feel lost. But here are some factors you should consider and your choice might get a bit easier: Firstly, assess your skill level honestly; beginners typically benefit from longer, wider, and more stable boards, while experienced surfers might opt for shorter, more maneuverable ones.

The board's volume, determined by its length, width, and thickness, affects buoyancy and paddling ease, which is important for catching waves efficiently. So ask yourself, how is your wave count right now, and then decide if smaller sizes and less volume are suitable for the stage you are in currently.

Additionally, consider the type of waves you'll be surfing, how often you get to surf during the year, and your preferred surfing style—whether it's cruising, carving, or riding barrels— different board shapes and fin setups offer various performance characteristics. Lastly, don't forget about durability, as quality construction ensures your board can withstand the rigors of the surf. And it might be important to you as well to have sustainable equipment.

Ultimately, finding the perfect surfboard involves a balance between personal preference, skill level, and surfing conditions. Have a look at our online shop, we offer durable and sustainable boards and whenever you feel unsure about your choice just drop us a message. We are happy to help you and answer quickly. You can also find our detailed guide here and learn about the surfboard basics.

HOW TO

I never waxed a surfboard before - what is important?

Waxing a surfboard is important to get the right grip. So, just follow these easy steps and you'll be ready in no time. First, you start with the Basecoat layer. Draw a diamond-shaped pattern on your board. Cover only the areas where you'll be standing later, you don't have to wax all the way up to the nose. If you are riding a longboard, you should wax the whole board because you'll be stepping or dancing around everywhere ;)

After applying the Basecoat layer, take your wax for the water right temperature you're surfing in and rub it over the first layer in a circular movement. With time there will be small sticky bumps - this is what we want. So, keep going until you have enough of those. Check the grip with your hands. Whenever you feel like you are lacking grip, take your wax and repeat the second step. A basecoat is only needed when the board gets freshly waxed.

Remember to clean your board off every once in a while to renew the wax layer. Removing wax is pretty simple - just leave your board in the sun for some minutes and take the wax off. For more information, check our detailed How To Guide.

How do I x-change the fin box of my Foamy X?

The cool thing about our Foamy X is the easily exchangeable fin box. Just take a 2€ coin and put out the drop-through screws at the tail of your board. Turn your board around and remove the fin box. Now you place the other fin box inside. The more protruding curvature of the lateral fin boxes should point to the center. Note, that the center fin box should have the elongated, narrower part facing the nose of the board. Last but not least, you'll screw back in the drop-through screws and you are ready to go. We've also created a detailed guide and filmed the important steps, so don't forget to check this out.

How can I install a tail pad on my new surfboard?

Surfing needs a good grip and a tail pad can be a great help with that. And to get the best out of it you can follow these simple steps on how to install it properly. Firstly, gather your materials: you'll need your tail pad, some paper towels, or a clean cloth, and rubbing alcohol, or wax remover.

Now, make sure that the surface of your surfboard is clean and free of any wax or debris. You can use rubbing alcohol or a wax remover to clean the area where you'll be placing the tail pad.

The next step is all about positioning. Take the middle part of your pad and place it on the stringer in the middle of your board. It should end a few inches before your leash plug. Now, take the side parts and place them next to the middle part. They should be as wide as your foot, so don't place it too narrow or too wide.

Once you've decided on the position, carefully peel off the backing from the adhesive side of the tail pad. Start by placing one end of the tail pad onto the board and slowly press it down, working your way toward the other end. Apply some more pressure during the process to get all the air bubbles out.

Before taking your surfboard into the water, give the tail pad a gentle tug to ensure that it is securely attached. You want to make sure it won't come off during your surf session. We've created a blog article about this topic as well. Check out the pictures and the video to see the steps again. If you just bought a Foamy X, don't forget to have a look at our How to as well. It shows you how to install the pad correctly between the drop-through screws.
